PCR Testing

Our Molecular biosciences head has close to 15 years of bioanalytical research experience in advanced molecular biology techniques and mass spectrometry-based proteomics applications.
We currently offer PCR testing in mould for:
  • ERMI (Environmental Relative mouldiness Index)
  • HERTSMI ( Health Effects Roster of Type Specific Formers of Mycotoxins and Inflammagens)

ERMI

Environmental Relative Moldiness Index (ERMI) is a methodology initiated by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) with coordination of the Office of Research and Development (ORD). It was initiated in order to check the moulds infestation in the households. It uses Mould-Specific Quantitative Polymerase Chain Reaction (MSQPCR) method to detect more than 30 species of moulds found in households in a single swab.

The MSQPCR for ERMI provides you with precise results as it uses biochemical assay using calibrated instruments.

HERTSMI

Health Effects Roster of Type-Specific Formers of Mycotoxins and Inflammagens (HERTSMI) is a mould test that detects 5 common households moulds. It is different than ERMI as it only detects 5 species where as ERMI detects 36 moulds species. In a comparison of price, HERTSMI is less-expensive than ERMI. The five different species of moulds detected by HERTSMI are:

  • Aspergillus Penicilloides
  • Aspergillus Versicolor
  • Chaetomium Globo sum
  • Stachybotrys Chart arum
  • Wallemia Sebi
